Home base of Suzy Pine is Rotterdam, Netherlands, where singer-songwriter Suzanne Pijpers wrote most of her songs and where the studio of guitarist-composer Pepijn van Dorst is located. Two longtime friends who met as students at the conservatory of Utrecht decided to return to the roots of their inspiration and produce their own music together.
Suzanne has a background as a classical mezzo soprano and backing vocalist for various artists, while writing a growing catalogue of songs at home. Pepijn is a versatile musician of his own kind, composer and sound designer. As a duo they are now blending their unique musical ideas into a harmonious collaboration.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Sting and Pink Floyd, Suzy Pine’s music embodies a fusion of different pop and rock elements, creating a distinctive sound that captivates listeners. Working on a full studio album, they will be releasing their songs single by single.
Suzanne provides all vocals, Pepijn plays all guitars, synth and sampled sounds. Once the arrangement has taken shape, guest musicians are invited. Musicians involved are David de Marez Oyens (bass guitar), Mark Eshuis (drums), Friso van Wijck (percussion) and Isa Schouten (cello).
Suzy Pine is een project van singer-songwriter Suzanne Pijpers en gitarist/componist Pepijn van Dorst. Wekelijks werken zij samen in de studio van Pepijn in het Oude Westen van Rotterdam. Uitgangspunt van hun muziek zijn liedjes van Suzanne die zij aan de piano heeft geschreven, waar Pepijn vervolgens een eigen draai aan geeft. Daarna volgt het gezamenlijke proces van ideeën uitwisselen, experimenteren, laag voor laag opnemen. Alle vocals worden gezongen door Suzanne. Alle gitaren, overige instrumenten en sounds worden gespeeld door Pepijn. Als het nummer en arrangement vorm hebben gekregen nodigen zij gastmuzikanten uit. Musici die meewerken zijn David de Marez Oyens (basgitaar), Mark Eshuis (drums), Friso van Wijck (percussie) en Isa Schouten (cello).
